CLERK DONE TO DEATH
STORY OF IMPERSONATION Mr William Elder, a, native of Dundee, employed at the Daikons;e jute mills, was d'ouml murdered in the bathroom of a. first-claps carriage, on tlie Bengal Nagpur Railway Company’s mail train, which runs between Calcutta, and Bombay. Mr Elder had been employed for feeven years as a. clerk by a C alfcutta firm. He was married when, home on leave recently, and he wan on. his way to ' meet, his wile in' -Bomba; 7 , where she had arrived, from .England. Thei crime was dmcjvered on. the arrival of the train at Bilaspur, in the 'Central Provinces. AD* Elder had received shocking injuries on the head, and some of his luggage was .missing- i • > The train guard state!;; that a, man; joined the train at Calcutta, who impersonated -a railway . officer. This person was bound for Nagpur, and tfaveililed in the same -compartment ns Mr Elder.. When the train, arrived at Bilaspur. whicil ii readied before Nagpur, ft was discovered that the . man was missing.
