HEAVY DEALT NOS IN SHARES (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) London. Sept. 2. For some time past there have been heavy dealings in the shares of (he Margarine Onion and prices have risen ill is year from 70s to 120 s on rumours of amalgamation. If. is now announced that a provisional agreement, lias been signed for an amalgamation of (lie share capital of the Margarine Union.‘with which is associated the N.V. Margarine Unlc, and lh e ordinary share capital of Lever Tiros., on, a basis of equal status. This involves a capital of 151 millions at present market prices. The Margarine Union include Van Donberg’s Home. Colonial and other dairy companies. The Margarine combine has. long desired a direct.interest in West Africa. It is presumed that in future Lovers will deal in soap exclusively and the combine will confine its attention to margarine, though a chain of retail shops may also be of assistance,Jo Levers.
