SOLDIERS AND THE SERVICE

(To the '.Editor, Star) Sir,—Tile- largo attendance of the public, many coming from a. distance, at the citizen .service held at the Soldiers’ Memorial in Peilding by the Ministers’ Association, on Anzae Day indicates how the memory of the late war continues to occupy a, prominent position in iho thoughts of the peo_ pie, and the many beautiful wreaths placed around the monument show that the brave men winy have sacrificed their lives for their country have not been forgotten. Although a decade lias passed, since the eonelusion. of the war the. reverent attitude of those nittending the services reveals how deeply the hearts of the people have been affected and indicates that tlio citizen service wi ll lie appreciated for many years to come, for all creeds and denominations to meet together to worship Clod, who had delivered our nation iirom a servile bondage. A prominent feature of Wednesday’s service was the absence of provision made for the returned soldiers and the very small number of war medals in the audience. Most of our surrounding towns give, the returned soldiers a. promient place in the audience. Alight T suggest that in the future citizen, services, the. returned, soldiers be invited to attend in a. body and receive, the honour of which •they are so. worthy.—T n.m etc., CTTTZTCN’
