WAR MEMORIAL
UNVEILED BY HON. K. S. WILLIAMS MAORIS PROVIDE A FEAST (Per Press Association) Gisborne, April 26. Two thousand people, native and European, al-sembled at Te Araroa, East Cape district, vesterdy, lor the unveiling of a war memorial. The Maoris had prepared a great feast for the occasion. A welcome was extended to the Hon. K. S. 'Williams. 57r A. T. Ngata led a party of chiefs in singing the Maori, lament for the soldiers who had I ailed to return to their hapus. Air WiTnams, replying spoke m Maori to the great delight ol the natives, and proceeded to unveil the memorial, a granite oblesk, erected by the joint efforts of the Maoris and pakehas in memory or the dead' of both races. I'lie dedication was preceded bj the proectsion, including 200 returned men.
