OPENING THE SEASON TO-MORROW’S GAMES FEILDING PLAY ATHLETIC For the opening of the Manawatu Rugby Fnion’s championship competitions to-morrow, Feilding will have a. senior game and a junior game. The Feilding seniors will play Athletic on the new ground at -Johnston Park and if is expected there will hr- a large gathering of supporters. The Feilding team is published today. It comprises a hefty set of forwards, with Alex WaMin as wingforward, and a, set ol backs which at present is an unknown quality. In the forwards, Hare, Bowler, and file Rights may he expected t<v give a good account of themselves, and this writer is pleased that Simpson is to he given a. chance. He isi a young player full of enthusiasm, not afraid, of hard work, keeps himself lit. and will certainly lie a trier. Young Gibbs is placed behind the serum This hoy played a, good game in the third grade for High School last, year, and ii is rapid promotion to place him in the senior grade this year. He may do well, and it will be very muck to his credit il he does, but: the club is- making ail experiment. The, three Darraglts will play, and should all dm well. Roach will probably play full hack', where he will lie safe, and lie has a good, kick. Gibbs, by the way, will he useful in converting the trios which Feilding hope to score.
