MEAT COMMISSION
MOKE HEATED EXCHANGES GLORIFICATION OF MR LYSNAR (P«r Pres* Association.) Wclli ugton, May 27. When 11 1 0 Meat Commission resumed. At.r Lysnar began to read ,d number of lei torn which had passed between the Gisborne branch of the Farmers’ Union and the Minister of Agriculture. An interjection by Sir John Findlay brought a remark that Vestey’s had been operating to the detriment of the Dominion as a whole. Sir John Findlay: Mainly for the glori heat ion of M r Lysnar, I think.
Mr Lysnar: The glorification of Mr Lysnar'is not in it. My pocket has suffered to the extent of ■£20,000 as a result of their operation. 1 would not have committed myself to that extent, had it- not been for promises of legislation that- were made and not carried into effect. Many other farmers have also suffered. The remark of Fir .John Findlay I think is a little out oi place. Mr Lysnar then proceeded with his examination of Mr John Fraser general manager of the Meat Board, and asked him to give the commission any evidence he had in Ids minute books regarding the Admiral Coilringt.on.
Mr Skerrott, K.C.. protested, lie said that Mr .Lysnar had made insinuations against everybody. Mr Lysnar: I have been prevented from seeing the books. Mr Skerrott replied: It. seems Hied you have ’no capacity for thinking.
Mr Lysnar: I have an equal capacity to yours. Mr Skcrrett: J am afraid you have lost it. Mr Lysnar said, with heat: You have no right to make that- statement; no right at all. Mr Skerrott replied: Well, I am going to make it.
