TWO KILLED IN MOTOR RACE
TJR-AGIODEATI-I OF FAMOUS I FRENCH PILOT. Paris, April '24. Immecllately after the start of (lie Automobile Grand Prix on the Corsiean circuit, ami when the competitors had finished the first hip, the startling announcement was madi that M. Delaunay. one of the competitors, had been killed, and that his chauffeur, Godani, had died from his injuries. \ M.'Delauna.y was piloting a ISignan sport machine, which overturned in the straight track, a few kilometres past C'orte Rarely, five miles front the start. The cause of the accident is not known, but the course .on which the race is run is exceedingly bad, comprising numerous hairpin turns through ravines. The world's record holder for fast HyinjJ, 51. Sadi Lceoinle, had a miraculous escape when his car turned turtle and both he and his mechanic wen', thrown out on the rocks. Both were unhurt, though the car was entirely wrecked. Nine cars, all of French make, werp started bv M. Le Trocquer, .Minister for Public Works.
The race was one,of three laps of a circuit of 117 kilometres (92 miles), thp whole of which was entirely guarded by troops and gendarmerie. It resulted in Guyot covering the distance in (i hours 7 minutes 51 seconds, being an. average of 73 kilometres an hour. His best lap was made in 1 hour 57 minutes 23 seconds.
