A return laid before Parliament yesterday shows that the cost to i\ew Zealand of the hospital ships lUarama and Maheno up till March 31 last was £485,237. The expenditure of money from private sources total £40,311, leaving a balance of £8892 in hand. The Government provided and maintained the ships, but private subscriptions provided voluntary workers and medical equipment,
