RAIDERS.
GERMAN SQUADRON MAY STILL BE AT LARGE.
EFFECT OF THE RAID IN AMERICA.
London Times—Sydney Snn Service*. (Received Dec. 22. 8 a.m.) London, December 21. Ihe nival correspondent of the limes stresses the difficulty of combatting raids over short distances made by a battle cruiser squadron of the highest speed, so constituted that Jt might remain at sea for some time longer. It is uncertain whether the German squaldron is still in the North Sea. It might continue to evade British battle cruisers, and, favoured by thick weather, may attempt more damage before it returns to port. New York, December 21. ihe New York correspondent of the limes says the naval raid on the undelended Yorkshire towns, and the enthusiasm the murder of non-com-batants evoked in Berlin, have not assisted the German cause in America. On the contrary, it has deepened the conviction that victory for the Kaiser wouhj be the victory of scientific barbarism over civilisation.
