HOW THE TURK FELL TO
GERMAN INTRIGUE. London, November 7
Appeals by Germans tricked Turkey into the war. The Goeben sent n wireless message from Constantinople asserting that the Russians had treacherously attacked Turkish ships, and the Turkish Ministers, unsuspectingly, held a council and approved of the action of the Goeben. The following day they discovered the fraud. The Sultan promised Italy that hy would dissuade the Senussi from further hostilities against the Italians in Cyrenica. Instead, he directed them to attack the British, and it is reported that the Senussi, under Ahmed, their chief, are maivhiug towards Egypt,
Military law in Constantinople is being vigorously enforced. The Grand N izier thrice tried to resign ihe Premiership, but- was threatened with court-martial and forced to remain in office.
Persia is reiterating that site will maintain her neutrality, and asks Britain to prevent Persia from becoming a theatre of war.
A message lo Rome from Constantinople says the Russian fleet bombarded Zunguldiak and Kuzlu, ijii Asia Minor, sinking several vessels in the harbours.
A Turkish official says: Our troops are in touch with the enemy on the whole eastern front, and three large British steamers and several small British and French vessels havcl>con seized at Snivrua.
The Turkish forces in the vicinity "I Erzeroum arc rati mated at 90,000 men with 250 5| besides Kurdish cavalry. The Russians advanced 50 miles over the mountains for 30 hours through deep snow in the defiles.

A German officer named Mors has been arrested at Alexandria while returning .from Turkey with plans to dynamite the Suck Canal. He was eoui-L-niartiallcd and sentenced to penal servitude for life.
France and Belgium have declared war on Turkey.
