THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

BAZAAR

The Presbyterian Church bazaar, held on Saturday, was in all respects a pronounced success. From the time it was opened by Mr Bloomfield, at 2 p.m., to its close, at 10 p.m.,' business in every stall was carried on at a hrisk rate, and the closo of the day's labours saw every single article on the stalls disposed of. The evening .amusements were more than usually keen and attractive. The members o*f the Presbyterian Ladies' Guild have good cause to be well pleased with the success of their venture, viewed as it may be from the point of steady application to work during the course of the day, pleasure and satisfaction of their patrons, the ready and willing assistance given them by everyone m the district and even as far afield as Rotorua and Hastings, and the balance to be handed to the church funds when all tho expenses aro met. The following were the results of the various competitions: Weight-judfino- of sheep (correct weight, 941b), Mr NorNei (92£lb) 2. Weight-judging of lamb (correct weight, 106ilb), Mrs £n"?h { 10 I lh) X > Mr J - G - Murray (iU.ijlbs) 2. Number-judging peas (correct number 2313), Mrs McNamara (2224). Guessing name of doll (Ruth) was decided by drawing from the box, as no ono hit upon the right name, won by Airs F towler. Game of Quoits, 'won by Mr Bloomfield four times in succession, and then again by Mr H. Gatchill. The ladies' guild Would- take this opportunity of thanking very heartily all the friends who so readily and willingly assisted them and without whose help they could not hiive managed so successfully. During the evening Mr Astbury,* on behalf of tho congregation, presented Mr Bloomheld with a souvenir to take with him to his new station, Pongaroa..
