RONCOTEA.

i.OUK UMA UumUtßiruftiDKMT.J liongotea is beginning to have somewhat of a citg air about' it. Important By-laws have been passed by the Town Board. It is now an expensive matter to ride the bicycle on the footpath, or allow stock of any Jrind to wander on the roads. We would not be surprised to hear of test cases as any, time, if the coming winter proves to be ordinary or extraordinary. We do not know where else cycliste may ride but on the footpath. New by-laws are easily made and new departures are easily carried out, but not always successfully, as has happened in the case of the "electric lights. We expect (unless the wasting electricity is brought into acquisition) that during the wintry months the local guardian of the peace will employ his evenings carrying a lantern to enable the much perplexed pedestrians to journey from place to place without danger to themselves, and not to harras egotists who are endeavouring to escape quagmires and mudpits. The new buildings being erected by Messrs Pye and Wechbury, carpenter and bootmaker respectively, are now nearly completed. The buildings are imposing, improve wonderfully the look of the town, and reflect credit on the contractors. It is rumoured that the Dairy Company intend making extensive alterations this winter. Mr A. 6. Clements, the well known saddler, has removed from Bayliss' buildings to Penny's, opposite Amesburys Bros., and is carrying on an enterprising business. We regret to report the serious illness of Dr Stenahl, and hope for a speedly recovery. Change has taken place again in the teaching staff of our school. Miss Pitts, who lor three years has acted as pupil teacher, has been transferred to Marton, and Miss Woodman has taken her place. Miss Burbush (probationer) has also been appointed.
