THE BATHS READY.
COMPLETION OF THE CONTRACT TO BE HANDED OVER TO- . MORROW. Mr. T. Collins, the contractor for the erection of the bor-ough swimming baths, stated before starting the work ( that he would have the baths ready by the end of February. He kept his word, for the water was turned on last night, and the' Trig bath filled. This morning, Mr. Collins had the first swim in the water, which looked very tempting to the onlooker today. Mr. Collins stated that the work would be handed over to the Council's officer to-morrow, and they could have the official opening on Wednesday afternoon if they so desired. The Works Committee of the Borough Council has been requested to draw a list of rules for the control of the baths, and to make arrangements for the appointment of a caretaker. The Committee will probably present a report to Thursday's meeting of the Council. A special meeting of the Borough Council is called for 10.30 a.m. tomorrow, to consider the matter i f opening the baths to the public with the' Beast possible delay. In the event of a programme being arranged, we have authority to state that here would be a dozen or more swimmers from the District High School.
