HALCOMB.
LINTON MEMORIAL SERVICE. The Linton Memorial Service in the Halcombe Methodist Church last Sunday evening was numerously attended, and was conducted by Revs. P. W. Jones and J. Clover, an additional element of sadness was given to the service by the sad trap accident, whereby Mr NeiF Hansen, or Stanway road, and one of the members of the Church met his death with tragical suddenness, on returning home from the morning service that very day. The deepest sympathy is' felt for Mrs Hansen (who, fortunately, escaped injury) and family in their sad sudden bereavement. . . At the memorial service the Rev. P W. Jones, who had known the late Mr Linton for 33 years, gave an address showing how the deceased gentlleman had" lived 1 for good, had always a kindly word for everyone; also great stability and consistency of character, and who by his very Christian benevolence had imprinted liis name in the most enduring characters in many hearts. The Rev. J. Clover, whose acquaintance with the deceased extended over nearly 31 years, read a memoir, a copy of which will be printed in the monthly Church paper. In addition to" the historical part (already printed in the- Stak), the memoir dwelt upon tbe long connection with the Church, and the generous and veonmn services rendered by Mr Linton, also upon his mellowed Christian character, and spirit, and his readiness through God's grace for the end when it came. The choir san<i; specially selected hymns.
