I A WHOLESALE TONIC. Wellington, December 21. John Cecil, a foreigner, to-day pleaded guilty to using obscene language on Thorndon Quay, on sth December. Station Sergeant Darby said that the case was so bad that people crossed the Quay to get beyond earshot. • "As bad a case as I ever heard," • exclaimed Dr. McArthur, 5..M., after hearing the evidence, "there is no exj cuse at all; it is no case for a fine. j You will be sentenced to three i months' imprisonment." Nelson, December 21. The adjourned inquest on Mrs Gertitude Agnes Bood, who died- from the effects of strychnine poisoning ! on Wednesday- was resumed to-day. I At the previous sitting, Robert Good, husband of deceased, had deposed to deceased telling him she had taken strychnine after they had had a quarrel, which happened frequently. She 1 dreaded her approaching confinement, and had been depressed in ' consequence. Further evidence of domestic unhappiness was given and I letters written by deceased to relar tives were read, in which she alleged that she 'had been unkindly treat, ed by her husband.' The inquiry • was further adjourned.
