LAND BOARD.

SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting ot the Wellington Land Board was held yesterday. lihere were present: Messrs James Mackenzie (Commissioner of Crown .Lands), in the chair, and A. Reese, Job. Joughin; section 4, Block XIV, Oroua, 67 acres, from A. b. Needham to G. Jiiflford. P J. Murpliy applied for permission to take in his wife Margaret Murphy, as partner with Hum an section 1, Block HI, Maungakaretuitaketapauma Improved Jbarm. me board refused the application, but approved of a transfer to Mrs Murphy of the whole section, it having been intimated that this would be acceptable. Mr J. A. White applied for twelve months' extension of time in wbicih to take up his residence on sections 9 and 10, Block ill, Rewa (Langdale Subs.), and it was resolved that a report be obtained from the Crown liands ranger. , . „, , i The commissioner advised the board that, owing to petitions having been received from certain lands for settlements selectors, it had been decided to increase the rebate for prompt payment from 5 to 10 per cent., thereby making the rebate in this land district practicallly the same as that granted in all the other districts in the dominion The application of J. H. Sykes for section 11, Ohakune Village Settlement was refused, and it was decided to hold a ballot, for the section on January 7, between the two other applicants. M. J. Amraunson, applicant tor sections 3 and 4, Block XIX, Oliakune Village Settlement, was requested to send in a completed application.
