Telegraph Press Association Copyright Auckland, This Day. A fire originated in the washhotue at J. T. Hartland's house! Remuera, at 7 o'olock this morning. The house was burned to the ground. Practically nothing was saved. Two of the neighbouring houses were ignited by flying sparks, but the fire was extinguished by the efforts of the Newmarket' Railway Workshops Brigade. In the Police Court Mr Kettle, S.M., granted Dr Beattie, superintendent of the Auckland Mental Hospital, permission under the Criminal Code Act, 1905, to prosecute James Regan, proprietor o! Saurday Night, for publishing an alleged defamatory libel concerning the complainant.
