Special Mixtures can be made at any time to suit f armars, Note, —The "M " gave the best results in pre portion to cost out of nineteen experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Ooy eminent Experimental Farm at Momohaki, m 189 F (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Department) :— The experiments made at Momohaki with various manures upon turnips in the _ eason 1898*1899 show that the best result was obtained from a mixture of one third steamed bona dust and two-thirds basic slag (Thomas' Phosphate), while the best result, at a -_.iniu.um cost was from a mixture of cne* third Lawes' Superphosphate and twothirds of the W.M E. Co.'- -M* Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M.E. Co.'s No 3 Mixture, tha iro portions being a little different. The former cc mbination points to the fact now generally recog* msed, that the valuo cf basic slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly underestimated. Ihe W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one-third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report ot Mr Gilland* ers, the manacer at Momohaki, embodying the results of tke experiments referred to, which will be found in the Seventh Report of the Department of Agriculture, would amply repay, any farmer who finds a difficulty in selecting the most suitable manures.
