(Per Press Association) Christchurch, January 27. Chatham Island correspondence states hat a charge of murder was laid bat dis- ] nissed against Langdale Hunt, of Pitt , island. A Portuguese named Manuel lied some weeks ago and a discharged ] land of Hunt's professed to think hia • leath had been accelerated by the latter. Fhe case was investigated by the Resilent Magistrate who found there was absolutely no evidence to support the ihar^e and that all possible had been ; 3one for the deceased. i On January 12th an Industrial School boy named Charming, working for Mickle at Chathams, twice attempted to hang himself to a tree. The first time the branch broke and the second time the noose did not tighten . He was cut down and brought before the Magistrate, to whom , he said he could pin up with the hammering he got but could not stand the jaw. He will be sent back to Burnham.
