On the arrival of the Mararoa last night from Wellington detectiyes Jones and Fullerton arrested Carroll on a charpe of throwing vitriol at Paeroa. The accused had changed clothes with another man and took bis name for a small monetary consideration. Carroll at first denied his identity but subse quently admitted he threw the vitriol alleging he did so because Jewell drew a revolver.
