Tragedy at Noumea.

(Per Press Association.) Sydney, This Day. The Tanais brings details of a tragedy at Noumea. As ex convict employed by Lavergne, Government interpreter, armed with a gun and an axe, attacked Mrs Lavergne who took refuge in the house. Nothing daunted the man cut down the door, twice shot at a servant who came to the mistress' assistance, and with one blow of the axe cut off th« woman's arms. At this juncture Lavergne's son, twelve yeart of age, shot the man dead.
