(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Jan. 25. At the annual conference of delegates re the Shop and Shop Assistants Act, Wednesday was fixed as the day for the half-holiday. The Auckland Gas Company's annual report for the year shows the increased consumption of gas was 22£ per cent I over the previous year, the net profit being £20,405. The Directors recommend the payment of a dividend for the past half year of 7s 6d per share on the i paid np shares and 4s 11 Jd per share on part paid shares. Invkrcargill, January 25. Johanna Gourlay, aged 15, a domestic i servant at Wyndham, in a fit of insanity escaped from the house. The body was found at Fortrose on Sunday. 1 Christchurch, January 25. Lord Glasgow, who left for Wellington to-night, was entertained at a farewell dinner at the Christchurch Clab. Lord Brassey was present. Lord and Lady Glasgow sailed for Wellington this evening. Dunedin, January 25. The Very Rev Father Lynch, who is about to leave on a trip to the Holy Land and the Home Country, was to-night presented by the Catholic laity of Dunedin and suburbs with an illuminated address and a purse of about 200 sovereigns.
