MYSTERIOUS DEATHS. FEDERAL CONVENTION. (Per Press Association). Sydney, January 25. Mr Reid, in offering himself as a candidate at the Federal Convention, issued a lengthy address to the electors. He considers that the bill of 1891 right in the ruain, but thinks the financial provisions wrong, and made the scheme too costly for the work nsßigned to the federal power. lie believes a practical financial plan can be arrived at. This Day. Fred Curtis, assistant purser ot the Waihora, died suddenly while swimming here last night. Adelaide, This Day. The Oceania has arrived here. The detectives are still without a clue to the robbery but it is reported a steward who ioined the vessel at Sydney is missing. Hobart, This Day. Sailed— H. M.S. Ringarooma and Katoomba for New Zealand. Mrs Black well, a passenger by the Eaikoura for Wellington, jumped overboard on the voyage and was drowned. Joseph Parker was found dead in his bed at Stockwell apparently from illness. The wife was also found dead shot through the head. The affair at present is wrapped in mystery.
