Strange Conduct of a Husband.

Strange conduct by a husband was disclosed at an inquest held at Auburn, New froufch Wales, on the body of Anna Elizabeth Walther and her infant son. The evidence showed that her husband attended his wife in child birth on the previous Thursday. She became ill from peritonitis, and died on the followiug Tuesday, and the infaut died next day without having had proper nursing or medical aid. The husband pleaded destitution, and detailed the attempts he had made to secure a nurse. His wife bad had four children previously, and be bad attended J'er on each occasion. The jury found that the child had died from natural causes, but the mother's death was due to peritonitis ; that no proper medical or nursing assistance had been secured at the time of confinement ; and that the husband was guilty of manslaughter.
