DECISIVE VICTORY FOR MR THOMPSON.

(Per Pbess Association). Auckland, July 24. The Parliamentary election to-day for the city was carried on between Messrs Monk and Thompson in a very orderly manner. Bitter cold rain, with squalls, prevailed during part of the day, which is said to have affected the voting of the women. At the various booths there were female representatives of the Women's Liberal League and Women's Political League, and both leagues canvassed vigorously for their respective candidates. Mr Thompson headed the poll at all the booths. Following is the result : — Thompson 5528 Monk ... ... 3535 Majority for Mr Thompson, 1993. The result was received with enthusiastic cheering. WIJI.LINGTON, July 24. There was considerable rejoicing by the Government party over Mr Thompson's majority of nearly 2000 over Mr Monk in the Auckland election.
