[Per Press Association 1 . Washington, June 3. Mr Morton, Secretary of the Agricultural Department, in a minute report on the exports to Great Britain, states that America controls the chilled beef trade, and that the Australian experiment to introduce chilled beef in 1894 failed. He saj-s that American chilled meat is far superior to the best defrosted or frozen meat in other countries. The past year, adds Mr Morton, was bad for Australia, which had killed its own market by ir- j regular shipments. During the first five months of 1894 America sent to Great Britain live cattle valued at over i; 5,000,000.
