Concert at Apiti.
A very enjoyable concert, in connection with the Apiti Lodge of Good Templars, took place last Friday evening in Guy's Hall, which was crowded by an appreciative audience. The following is the programme : Trio, Misses Buckman and Watson (2) ; recitation, Mr E. Miller ; song, " Monte Carlo," Mr E. Protheroe who was deservedly encored ; trio, Messrs York, A. Buckman, and Goldring ; recitation, Miss Buckman; song, Miss L. McMillan ; song, Master Carter ; recita tion, " The Seige of Timaru," Mr Burke, who was encored ; song, Miss Carter ; song, Mr Goldring. Miss Carter presided afc the piano. The admission to the concert was by silver coin, and the lodge benefited to the extent of £1 lis. An impromptu dance, got up by the young men in the district, followed the concert, and proved a deciced success, about forty couples taking part in it. The floor was in good order, and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Refreshments were handed round at intervals. Mr G. Buckman made an efficient M.C , the musicians being Messrs Wilhelm and Protheroe.
