PANIC IN A CHURCH.
During a 'ihunderstorm. recentlj,^ Christ Church, Liversedge, Yorkshire, was struck by lightening •: whilst , t\yccngreleatfon were sinjing 1 the '* le Deum." A large } atone mea removed from the tower and the spouting de miolislied. The building was suddenly filled with flame, ana the gas which, owing to the darkdess, h&d : beeti lif , was blown out. A panic ensued, and the congregation, many being children, rushed to the doors to escape. Fortunately n.O one was hurt* *nd numbers of the congregation returned and took part in a: thanksgiving [Bervice, after which the ordinary service was concluded. . i « ' '■'< V i :.!.!. 1 i
