OUTBREAK CLEARING UP COUNCIL RECEIVES REPORT “The outbreak may now be said to be clearing up,” stated Health Inspector E. 0. Miles in a report upon the recent diphtheria cases in Papakura to the borough council meeting this week. Only one case had been reported since July 18, he added. The inspector staled that much work had been clone in the borough with regard to the outbreak ol' diphtheria among the children. Vigorous measures were taken . and the cases, some of which were detected as a result of swabbing were admitted to hospital for treatment. The inspector went on to say that the number of visits under the heading sanitary inspections, gave but a slight indication of the amount of work done in swabbing absentee children and contacts with positive cases. The condition of an aged an infirm man was receiving the attention of the Department, concluded the inspector s statement.
