PAPAKURA ANGLICANS.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT. LARGE NUMBER ATTEND. The Christ church Sunday school children gave a most successful concert in the parish hall, Papakura, in aid of school funds. Miss Norah Clarke, leader of the school, is to be warmly congratulated on the splendid results obtained from the young folk. They/ all took their parts splendidly. The hall was crowded to the doors.
The following very enjoyable and interesting programme was presented :
Piano solo, Nancy Shove; song, “The Little Fish,” Marjorie Turner; duologue, “80-Peep and Boy Blue,” Vera Finn and Ray Wilkinson; song, “Daisies Red,” the girls; recitations, “Fishes,” Ethel Finn, “If No One Marries Me,” Hazel Nunn, “The Robbers,” Coral Nunn, Beth Bates and Audrey Petersen. Then followed a pla/, “The King’s Highway,” the players being: “Workmen,” Allan and Ashley Bates: “Proud Lady,” Marjorie Lewis; “Flunkeys,” Dawn Burgess and Nancy Shove; “Old Lady,” Margaret Seaton; “Tramp,” Niall Burgess: “Policeman, John Hardw'ick; “Peter,” Austin Walters; “Herald,” Arthur Nunn: and “King,” Audrey Jenkins. Other items were: Piano solo, Margaret Seaton; recitations, “The Old Corse Root,’’ Dorothy' Walters, “A China Tragedy, Betty Haynes; song and poems, “The Browmie Store,” the little ones, “Someone,” Derek Eustace, Datfodlis,” Bobby Carpenter, “Fairies,’' Betty Carpenter; song, “Milkmaids Song,” Audrey Jenkins; recitations, “Owners,” Austin Walters, “Tin Soldiers,” Tommy Shove, ‘Pirates,’ Arthur Nunn; song, “If I’d been Mrs Noah,” senior girls; playg “The Obstinate Turnip,” the tinies; song, “A Japanese Love Song,’ ’the seniors.
