Pukekohe Basketball Club’s Annual Ball.
HELD LAST WEEK.
AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS.
OVER 150 COUPLES ATTEND
The Pukekohe Basketball Club’s annual ball, held in the Oddfellows’ hall on Wednesday evening, was an outstanding success. Over 150 couples attended, representatives of all Franklin clubs, and several Auckland and Otahuhu clubs being among the visitors. The hall was nicely decorated in black and white, and the floor was in good order for dancing. Music, which was all that could be desired, was supplied by Epi Shalfoon’s band, extras being played by Miss K. Cronin. The masters of ceremonies. Messrs W. H. Adams and Cyril Maxwell, kept things moving with a swing. During an interval, the club’s vicepresident, Mrs H. Nightingale, thanked all for their support, and congratulated the teams *vhich took part in the Pukekohe club’s knock-out tournament on the high standard of play. Mrs Nightingale presented trophies to the winners of the tournament as follows: A grade, shield. Waiuku, Miss Dunlop captain; B grade, cup, Otaua, Miss Goodwright, captain; C grade banner, Pukekohe, Miss June Thompson, captain. J
Mrs Nightingale also presented a lovely crystal vase to Miss Mollie Boyce, who is to be married shortly, as a mark of appreciation of her services to the club, and as a slight token of the esteem in which she is held by the members. * i
Miss Boyce thanked all for, what they had done to make the annual function such a success, and then handed beautiful bouquets to Airs Nightingale and Mrs G. Clark. A delicious supper was served.

The committee comprised: Mrs Nightingale, wearing an ensemble of black taffetas; Mrs Geoff Clark, opal pink swept satin relieved with silver; Miss Nancy Bell, blue raindrop crepe: Miss M. Boyce, floral taf£gta; Miss Fountain, plaid taffetas; Miss Dix, cherry taffetas; Miss H. Evans, pink cloque and silver lame; Aliss W. Young, green ripple cloque; Alls Pollock, tangerine sand crepe relieved with silver; Aliss K. Carpenter, red marocain relieved with blush cord.
