Affairs of the Franklin Power Board.

JUNE MEETING.. LINE ACROSS WAIUKU CREEK. i WORK AT GRAHAM’S BEACH ROAD, The June meeting of the Franklin Power Board was held yesterday afternoon when there were present: Messrs J. Dean (chairman), H. P. Garland.* W. Hosking, J. B. McKinney, G. K. Lawrie, J. Patterson, L. W. Keals and G. Arrowsmith, together with the secretary (Mr S. P. Day) and the engineer (Mr L. G. Sharp). The Auckland Harbour Board wrote stating that it had decided to grant ‘permission to the power board to : erect an 11,000 volt line across the W„ iuliu creek in the vicinity of the Waiuku wharf on condition that when required the power board would raise ihe height of the line. —The Harhaur Board is to be thanked. The tender of an Auckland firm for the supply of a Pontiac car, for the engineer’s department, was accepted, The secretary was given authority to exercise the board’s vote in connection with the Pukekohe borough drainage loan poll on July 15. The request of the Tuakau Women’s Institute tor the board to arrange a cooking demonstration with electrical equipment in the Presbyterian hall, Tuakau, on July 23. was

The engineer reported that the section of line on the Awhitu wharf roqd was completed and livened on June 17, and that work had been commenced on the Graham’s beach road section, the settlers having signed the minimum guarantee covering the cost of the line erection. Low tension

extensions were built at Onowhero, Pukekohe. Whakatiwai, Pukekawa, and Te Kohanga, while the wiring on the Otaua. Pollok and Helvetia lines had been doubled. During the month there had been 61 applications for new installations and 135 permits is-

sued for new work and additions. The contractor on the Awhitu group was making good progress, most of the installations having been completed and livened. The principal additions to tiie load included 25 milking and sep-

arator motors, 21 waterheaters, eight ranges, six pumps, and 12 industrial motors. For the week ended A.ay 24, the maximum demand for power

was 2342 k.v.a. ami 304,056 units were purchased: May 31, 2342 k.v.a and 306,963 units; June 7, 2347. k.v.a.

and 306,990 un-its: June 14, 2358 k.v.a. and 302.328 units, and June 21, 2320 k.v.a. and 304.110 units. Thent were no line faults causing interruptions to the supply of power during the month. There were pre-arrang-ed shut downs in Mangatawhiri, Kaiaua and Kobe Kobe districts for"alterations and maintenance work. Guarantees were obtained in respect of the liryjs at Awhitu. Graham's Beach: Ararimu road extension;, and

Wairamarama extension. Estimates and proposed guarantees were forwarded to the Native Department in connection with the reticulation of die Kaihau block at Waipipi. ? . V' The report was adopted. .
