WELFARE LEAGUE.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. BLANKETS FOR UNEMPLOYED. The first meeting of the newlyelected executive was held recently at the town board’s office when Mrs H. E. McEntee presided over Mesdames G. W. Lock, D. J. Graham, J. R. Wilson, D. A. Bingley, V. Williamson, Perry-Taylor, Cronin, East and the secretary, Mrs E. Busing. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Burrell and Linden and the clergy. The balance sheet, duly audited was submitted by the secretary, and it was resolved that same be forwarded for publication. Mr D. .1. Graham’s letter referring to the issue of blankets to the unemployed was acknowledged. It was decided to ask Mrs H. Walters to reconsider her decision to resign from the committee. The hours to he observed at the. depot are: Ifi a.m. till noon, and 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. every Friday. Resulting from Mrs Pavitt's resignation as assistant secretary and buyer, through her leaving the district, it was resolved that the ladies going on the morning duty at the depot, do the buying, thus obviating the necessity for a new appointment in Mrs Payitt’s stead. The schedule of duties was drawn up so that the ladies on morning duty would automatically do afternoon duty the next time, and each would then have a turn at buying. In view of Mrs Bingley’s appointment as treasurer and the decision regarding the buying, the secretary intimated that it would be unnecessary to appoint an assistant secretary. This was agreed upon. After routine business had been transacted, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
