GIRL GUIDES CAPTAIN. ■ A very pleasant afternoon, organised by Miss A. Evans (lieutenant) was spent at the bul recently in honour of titc coming of age of Miss Ethel Turner, captain of the Papakura Girl Guides company. The guides took pari in country dancing, competitions and games. During the afternoon, tea was served, the birthday cake being decorated with the company’s colours, red and gold.

The 'guide lieutenant, on behalf of the company, presented Miss Turner will) n large wooden key in the company's colours, on which all those present signed their names. Miss Turner was the recipient of a presentation case containing an ever-sharp pencil and a fountain pen, from tlio company, and a beautiful houquel of pink lilies, dahlias-and'as-paragus fern.
