GENERAL MEETING. (Own Correspondent). The Papakura Fire Brigade held a meeting last Tuesday for the purpose of nominating' officers for the ensuing 12 months. Captain J. E. Woodhousu •was nominated for a second term: Foreman Guillard and Foreman Cyril Walker were nominated. The nomuntil the next meeting. The secreination of secretary was held over tary, Fireman 11. Tliorburn, reported he had received two trophies for competition between the members, ami the thanks of the brigade were recorded to the donors. The members expressed the hope that'others would come forward with trophies, so as to provide an interesting afternoon s demonstration at a date to be fixed later. Regarding the same matter the captain presented a letter he had received from Superintendent N. L. Brown, of Pukekohe, suggesting that the two •brigades combine in the purchase of a trophy for competition between Pukekohe and Papakura brigades yearly. The brigade decided to fall in with the suggestion, details to he. arranged later. A correction was made that the teams were in training for a demonstration at Waihi,. and not Te Kuiti, as reported earlier. Further arrangements were made for the annual smoke concert to be held on January 15, an event that promises to bo. a record-breaker for the brigade.
