ST. JAMES’ CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING

The official opening of the St. .Tames' Tennis Club by the president, Mr A. Schlaepfer. took place on Saturday. the courts being in splendid nlaying order. and bright sunshine "making the afternoon a very pleasant one. " Visitors were present from Patumahoe and several other clubs. In his opening address Mr Schlaepfer said that as president of the club it again fell to his lot to open the courts for the ensuing season. He was pleased that such fine weather should attened their opening and he honed it was a criterion of what was to follow. He thanked all those who so ablv helped in the work of repairing the courts. Mr Schlaepfer extended I a heartv welcome to the many visitors, and hoped that the club would be able to return the visit. He wished the St. James’ club every success in the coming season. , . Mr Schlaepfer handed a racquet and balls to Miss Perkins who, applause and cheers, played the first ban of the season. The courts were I then declared open for the 1925 26 i Plav then commenced and many fine -ames were witnessed, the visitors ! from Patumahoe being prominent, i \ daintv afternoon tea was served ' by" members of the club’s committee.
