WILD DRIVE THROUGH CITY IN EFFORT TO ELUDE ARREST
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 17. When William Cox (28) appeared before a magistrate in the Hutt Court yesterday, the story was told of how he drove in the city at 45 miles an hour, and when taken to the Naenae police station dived through a closed window and.ran home, with two constables in pursuit. Cox was charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, mischief, causing wilful damage to a pane of glass, and having no driver’s license. A doctor said he examined Cox. who passed all tests satisfactorily., The intoxication charge was dismissed. Cox was fined £lO for dangerous driving, and convicted and ordered to pay costs and the cost of the window on the mischief charge. He was fined 10s on a charge of having no driver’s license.
