BRITONS ARE NOW THE WORLD’S POOR RELATIONS
LONDON, July 16. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr G. F,. Fisher, speaking in London last night, described Britons as “ the poor relations of everybody in the world,” and added:' ‘‘lt may be that this is not a bad thing for us. During the last century we as a nation have come to regard ourselves as wealthy, prosperous, and able To impose our will throughout the world, We'are cer-
tamly neither wealthy nor prosperous, and it is obvious that we cannot impose even our best intentions on the world.” He thought the average Englishman had not realised how hear to fundamental disaster we were as a nation.
