LEADING SCHOLARS SUGGESTED FOR CENTENNIAL LECTURESHIP

In an attempt to obtain the best candidate available, five leading men in English university and political life will be approached by the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London in a stated order of preference with an invitation to give four lectures in Dunedin next April' as part of the TJniversity of Otago’s centennial celebrations. It is proposed that four lectures be given, two at university level and two of a more popular type, within the period of about a fortnight. 1 The men to be approached (in order of preference) are:. Sir John Hetherington. Lord 'Beveridge. Sir John Anderson. Lord Lindsay of Birker (Master of Balliol), and Mr (R. E. Priestley (Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham University). The lectures proposed will be the first to be given under the terms of the de Carle Lectureship.
