NORFOLK ISLANDERS WOULD RESENT NEW ZEALAND CONTROL
(Rec. 12.5 p.m.) SYDNEY,'JuIy 15. There were persistent rumours on Norfolk Island that New Zealand wanted control of the island, said the Administrator, Mr A. Wilson, who is now in Sydney for a routine conference with External Affairs Department officials. He said he had no official knowledge of .such a move, but if it came about it would receive a very hostile reception from the islanders. He said that Mr Chifley should make a statement clarifying Australia’s stand in the matter, . •
