VICTIMISATION OF BRITISH OIL COMPANIES’ EMPLOYEES IN RUMANIA
(Rec. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 14. Sir Hector McNeil (Minister of State), replying to a question in the House of Commons, said he was aware that the Rumanian authorities were recently insisting on the expulsion from their posts, and houses and five days' notice of employees of oil companies in Rumania on the basis of unsubstantiated charges such as sabotagej negligence, and anti-democratic sentiments. Sir Hector McNeil added that he had not overlooked the possibility that the Rumanian authorities might be preparing an attack on the oil companies on these pretexts. This victimisation of' Rumanian employees of British companies was disturbing the British Government, which was considering suitable action.
