AUSTRALIAN RACEHORSES WORLD’S BEST, SAYS FILIPPINO SYDNEY, July 14. . “ Australian racehorses; are the world’s best. Any one of your_ leading 20 horses would be a champion in the United States,” said Yuan Ysmael, president of the Philippine Horse Owners’ Association, who arrived from Naila by air to buy' 100 mares and a number of stallions for stud purposes in the Philippines. He continued that during a recent tour of America several racehorse owners had told him they were surprised that Australia had not sent horses over for their rich classics. Racing was booming in the Philippines, but the quality of the horses was poor, as the Japanese killed 95 per cent, of the bloodstock during the war. The Australian sire.. Beechwood, bought in 1936, had sired ' 200 race-
horses in the Philippines.
