DX CLUB'S ACTIVITIES SURVEYED
In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet of the Otago brunch of the New Zealand DN Club at the annual meeting, the-chairman (Mr J. F. Fox) referred to the fact that the brancli was now the strongest in the Dominion. Owing to the prevalence of sunspot conditions, reception during the year had been poor. The DX listening post scheme was held up at the present time on account of the difficulty of securing a suitable hut. Interprovincial DX contests with Southland had been resumed, and one overseas broadcast "special” had been arranged with the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation. The following office-bearers were elected:—Patron, Minister in'Charge of Broadcasting, Mr Jones; president, Mr J. 1, Martin; vice-president, Mr L. Gerrie; honorary vice-presidcmts, Messrs Branks and Cushen; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Lynn; judges— Messrs M. Lament, J. Fox, and K. Mackey; committee, Messrs Lamont and Fox; log-keeper, Mr P. Thorn; “ oscillator ”■ stsff —Messrs Whitworth, Thorn, and Martin. Two DX “quizes” were won bv Messrs D. Lynn and J. Martin respectively. Competition results were as follows:—Best verifications of the year : Broadcast, WIJIT, Mr M. Laniotit; short wave, WHEX (s.s. Monterey), Mr J. Fox. .Monthly awards: North American broadcast—senior, WGAA. M. Lamont; junior, KMVT, D. Longstaff; Australian, oDR, M. Lamont;, •open broadcast. TvZPT. K. Mackey' short wave, senior. VKR, J. Martin • junior, VLHS. A. Ruokloy; amateur’, /LIA A. L. Gerrie; Williams .('up .) Fox; president’s shield, K. 'Mackey.
