Saturday’s matches resulted:— FOOTBALL SENIOR GRADE. Crescent 11, Clutha 9. Toko. 22, Clinton 3. Valley 23, Lawrence 3. Owaka a bye. SECOND GRADE. Star 8, Toko. 3. Clutha 25, Union 3. 'Waiwera 13, Crescent 0. Clinton a' bye. THIRD GRADE. S.O.H.S. 12, Toko. 11. Clinton 27, Owaka 3. . Crescent 21, Clutha 0. Star 3, Valley 0. Toko, still maintain their lead in senior grade, while Clutha have again gone to the front in second grade. By defeating Toko, in third grade, High School have come level with Toko, in banner points. Next Saturday’s fixtures are:— Senior grade: Owaka v. Crescent, at Kaitangata; Lawrence v. T0k,0., at Milton; Clinton v. Valley, at Clinton; Clutha a bye. Second grade: Crescent v. Star, at ]3enhar; Clinton v. Union, at Lovell’s Flat; Toko. v. Waiwera, at Waiwera; Clutha a .bye. Third grade: Star. v. Toko., at Milton; Crescent v. Clinton, at Clinton; Clutha v. Owaka, at Owaka; S.O.H.S. v. Valley, at Clydevale. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Mrs McGregor presided over the monthly meeting of Balclutha Women’s Institute, when- representatives of the League. of Mothers were present. Mrs W. Anderson delighted all present with violin solos, and Mrs A. G. W/ Dunningham (Dunedin) gave an interesting address on current affairs, dealing largely with Russia. The points competitions resulted:— Knitted cardigan: Mrs J. Darling 1 and 3, Mis J. McNaughton 2. Bloom : Mrs J. T. Sutherland 1, Mrs J. Montgomerie 2, Mrs P. Mason 3. R.S.A. There was only a small attendance at the first of the quarterly meetings arranged by the Clutha district Returned Services Association on Saturday night. Mr L. Bowcott presided and explained that the committee considered that the holding of quarterly meetings would bring the members together and allow them to discuss any matters of interest. An interesting discussion took place on the housing situation. It was .stated that two State houses were becoming vacant in Balclutha shortly, and it was resolved to approach the department with an application that ex-servicemen have priority for these houses. A member asked what the branch was doing in the matter of providing club rooms for members. The president stated that tlie' committee had the matter in hand, but it was decided that the time was not opportune to proceed with alterations to the hall while the housing position was so acute. BALCLUTHA BOWLING CLUB. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Balclutha Bowling Club on Saturday night, Mr L. J. Edwards (president) being in the chair. The election of office-bearers for the year resulted as follows:—President, .Mr L. Houliston; vice-presidents, Mr S. Clippies (senior) and Mr P. Burns (jnniop); secretary, Mr lit. Hutton; auditor, Mr D. H. Ballantyne; games controller, Mr L. Cockerill; handicappers and selectors, Messrs L. Duncan and L. J. Edwards; green supervisors, Messrs It. Mcßride and L. Cockerin'; committee—Messrs J. Gold, F. Gilligan, L.' Pepperill, and S. G. Brown; delegates to South Otago Centre, Messrs R. Hutton and L. Cockerill. Members again favoured the division of the club into two separate sections. I
