COMBINED COACH FOR CRICKET AND SOCCER MOOTED
If a proposal made to the Otago Football Association by the Otago Cricket Association bears fruit, the two bodies may unite in obtaining a combined cricket and Soccer coach for Dunedin. At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Football Association last night a letter was received from the Cricket Association explaining that the latter body was endeavouring to obtain a cricket coach who might also be able to coach Association football, and asking if the Football Association was prepared to consider the scheme. It was agreed to ask a deputation from the Cricket Association to meet the Football Association at its next nieeting to discuss the matter.
The meeting was ’ attended by the president, Mr E. L. Hope, and Messrs rl. Fiddes, D. Cooke, 0. Hill, W. E. Linton, W. Wallace, P.-George, G-. Wright, and W. P. Smith. Delegates from 11 clubs were present, and methods by which the standard of football in the local coin-_ petitions could be improved were discussed. It was decided by the committee that it would not be possible to hold a schools tournament at Dunedin this season in accordance with a request of the New Zealand Football Association. Advice that Thistle was the local finalist in the Chatham Cup competi tion jvas received from the Southland Association.
