CATHOLIG CHURCH OF ENGLAND CORRECT TITLE
SYDNEY, June 26. Members of the Church of England have been advised by the Standing Committee of the Church of England Dioc-ese of Sydney to describe themselves as “ the Catholic Church of England ”in their census returns. Tho following resolution was passed:— “ The Standing Committee has had its attention directed to the fact that members of the Church of Rome are advised to describe themselves , as ‘ Catholics ’ in the forthcoming census enumeration. While the Standing Committee recognises the right of any denomination to describe itself bv any title, it would remind members of tho Church of England and the community generally that the Church of England has always claimed to be part of Christ’s Catholic Church, and cannot abandon that claim. It would advise members of the Church ol England to descuibe themselves as the Catholic Church of England in pursuance of this well-founded claim.”
