EISENHOWER SUPPORTS STANDARDISING OF U.S. AND CANADIAN ARMS
(Rec. 0.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 26. General .Eisenhower, testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee to-dea.v. strongly supported legislation authorising the United states to standardise "the arms of all American nations, saying that the Western Hemisphere should organise now for defence. The United States and Canadian forces particularly should be prepared to co-operate completely, because one of the first things an enemy would do would be to strike by air at the industrial centres near the Great Lakes. The Secretary of the Navy. Mr Forrestal. said that if legislation were enacted the navy proposed to replace ohso'ete warships of l.atiu-Amoriean countries with modern American ones.
