CENTRAL OTAGO MEMBER HAD A DELAYED JOURNEY

(Special.) WELLINGTON, June 25. Apart from the senior Government Whip, Mr A. S. Richards, who is absent through illness, the only member of the new Parliament not in liis place for the opening of session : yesterday was Mr W. A. Bodkin (N., Central Otago), who had his personal swearing-in ceremony to-day. It was not Mr Bodkin’s fault that he missed yesterday’s proceedings. He set out from his home at Alexandra as long ago as last Saturday, his intention being to travel by way of Palmerston. The bus, however, ran into a heavy snowstorm, which was so severe that it was decided to return to Alexandra. Saturday evening, therefore, found Mr Bodkin back home instead of well on his way to Wellington. On Monday he resumed his journey, this time via Dunedin, and arrived in Wellington this morning, taking his front-row seat beside Mr W. S. Goosman this afternoon.
