(Rec. 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 24. Reuter says the New Zealander, Miss Madge. Meuli, described at an inquest at Torquay how she battled against heavy surf and strong undertow ill a vain attempt to rescue Thomas William Moon, who was drowned while bathing off the beach at Maiden Combe on June 12. The police and National Fire Service men rescued Moon’s wife from the rocks .by dragging her up the cliffs with ropes." The coroner, Mr E. Hutchings. said the conditions made Miss Meuli’s rescue attempt risky for even an expert swimmer.
