VOCATIONAL TALKS ARRANGED FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL PUPILS
A series of vocational talks for secondary school girls and boys has been launched by the Dunedin Vocational Guidance Association. Talks so far given on nursing, science, dressmaking, railroad engineering, librarianship, and architecture have proved interesting and instructive.
To give a realistic and up-to-the-niintlte picture of as wide a variety of careers as possible, speakers have been chosen who are Working experts in their particular spheres. Though these talks- are primarily for girls and boys wanting information and help in deciding their careers, interested parents, teachers or other adults are always welcome to attend. They are given at the Vocational Guidance Centre in Stuart street on most Mondays and, Wednesdays at 4.15 p,m. The programme for the remaining talks is as follows-Salesmanship, June 30, by Mr M. Dix; dental nursing, July 21 ; Miss Crawford, School Dental Nursing ; Service; professiortal engineering, July 28, Mr E. Garden, consulting engineer; teaching, August 4. Mr E. Partridge, principal, Dunedin Training College; office work, August 11, Mr S. R. Whyte, Farmers’ Mutual Insurance; massage/August 18, Miss E. M. Gotts, principal,. New Zealand School of Physiotheraphy; electrical engineering, August 20. Mr E. Young, electrical engineer; general engineering, September 20; kindergarten, September 22, Miss S. Hamilton, principal, Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association; building, September 24; home science careers, September 20; printing industry,-October 1, Mr J. Somerville, master printer: accountancy, October 6. Mr A. McGregor, professional accountant.
